Frontier Mailing Lists

Here are seven mailing lists you can join to get help learning and writing scripts for Frontier.
  1. Stanford's Frontier-webmaster list: A new list established in January 1997.

  2. Frontier Beginner's List: This list is for people who are just getting started with Frontier, or people who have never written scripts before. It's hosted by Frontier experts Eugene Barnes and Brent Simmons. No question is too basic on this list.

    Send email to listserv@lists.acornsw.com. In the body of the message type subscribe frontier-beginners. The subject line is ignored.

  3. Frontier-talk List: This is the central mailing list for the Frontier scripting world. Subscribers include the leading script writers in the Frontier community and many software developers who make scriptable Macintosh applications.

    Send email to listserv@lists.acornsw.com. In the body of the message type subscribe frontier-talk. The subject line is ignored.

  4. Frontier-coder List: For people who are writing lower-level code in C or Java to run in the Frontier environment. See Worldwide Power and Light for subscription information.

  5. MacBird List: This is the mailing list for the MacBird UI builder.

  6. WebStar-talk List: One of the most popular applications for Frontier is as a CGI-script running environment behind Quarterdeck's WebStar server.

    Instructions on subscribing to this list are on the Starnine Website.

  7. Dartmouth's MacScripting List: The original scripting list, it supports all Macintosh scripting languages and environments, primarily Frontier and AppleScript.
